Greatest Harm, Best Intentions

The year is 2013, and a war has just ended with the death of a large amount of the population of preternatural creatures.

It all began five years ago when, mostly, women and children started to disappear from the outskirts of cities in Romania. No one knew who was taking them or where they were going. It became known as the largest scale kidnapping in all of history. Over 200 people were taken, all the kidnappings were related, though, so they knew it was all the work of one group.

One day they baited the abductors’ with a small group of children, and waited. Once they children were snatched, they gave chase, never dreaming of where it would lead them. A city that had been “lost” for centuries.

Aurelithen. Romania.

They hunted for the taken people and realized that… they weren’t there. They were gone, just into the air, gone. It was then that they noticed something was off.

A short time later:

With the new discovery of the preternatural, the ‘others’ assumed, it would be okay, since there was no complete lashing against them, to show themselves in a more open fashion. They were wrong. As soon as they attempted to act on having a normal life with humans and not hiding, people became terrified and assumed they were going to kill them.

There were riots for a year, asking for executions, or camps to be set up, to get them out of the neighborhoods, out of the schools. Prosecuting everyone to get a test to make sure they were human, which hurt the ‘others’ who were already existing in silence with them.

When the law finally gave and was going to start executing and capturing them, they fought back.

This became an all out war; that the human’s were on the loosing end of, until they started using large scale measures. Soon, many more ‘others’ than humans were dead, and they fell back into the shadows.

But the humans still know they are there, and they want them dead.
